Partnering

Canadian Hospital Specialties is a national specialty distributor of medical and surgical products focused on strategic partnerships to enhance the experience of our customers. Our clinical, sales and marketing expertise coupled with our continued commitment to invest in new technologies brings value to supplier partners and customers alike. Our partnerships are based on shared values and mutual respect, essential elements to ensure long term success.

Sales Focus

Through our experienced network of sales professionals across the country and our established customer relationships, we enjoy a thorough market knowledge and understanding to effectively  service and support the fields of Anesthesia, Cardiac, Vascular & General Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Cardiology & Diagnostic Imaging and Critical Care/NICU. We understand the unique challenges facing our health care system as it evolves under new mandates for change and reform, and we continue to embrace the entire Integrated Health Network including administration, nursing and physicians.

We view our direct sales force as an extension of our manufacturers and we take the unique features, benefits and value propositions and translate them into sales and marketing plans that will resonate with our customers here in Canada.   Recognizing that “surgeon preference” products require a separate set of skills and focus, CHS employs a second, distinct sales team to focus exclusively on surgical specialties products.

Marketing

We recognize that the Canadian healthcare market is unique in the global context, with its own challenges and opportunities.   Even within our markets there are often regional differences that affect how products are sold, contracts are written or technologies are adopted.   Our suppliers are experts in understanding the features, benefits and competitive value that their products offer and we are experts at translating that into plans that maximize opportunities for our customers here in Canada.  CHS attends both national and regional trade shows in Canada to promote and support our brands across the country.   In conjunction with our manufacturers, we also assist during US conferences to meet with our Canadian customers in attendance.

Education

Healthcare is a very competitive field and success involves adding value to differentiate yourself from the competition.  Many of our suppliers have recognized the value of education and are industry leaders in providing the tools to effectively train and support their products in the field – whether it is 1-800 SUPPORT Lines, online courses or training videos, the variety and depth of support material is impressive.  However, there is no substitute for hands on training, education and in-servicing and CHS prides itself in providing these services to our customers.  Many of our customers have seen cuts to their clinical training and education budgets and value our ability to support and implement products at the end user level.

Operational & Distribution Services

Canada’s large and diverse geography that stretches from coast to coast has a relatively small population of approximately 32 million people.  With a primary distribution facility located centrally in the Greater Toronto Area, and strong ties to the various networks connecting Canada’s Health Care system, CHS is uniquely poised to effectively manage the supply chain challenges of both suppliers and providers alike. While never losing sight of the selling, marketing and educational support for products, CHS has been at the forefront, embracing leading practices in supply chain such as automated EDI order entry and electronic payment exchange with our customers. Senior management attends all major industry meetings with regards to supply chain management and sits on the board for the HSCN (HealthCare Supply Chain Network).

Regulatory

CHS is fully compliant with all Health Canada regulations and has its Medical Device License, Drug Establishment License and Natural Health Products licenses.  We understand the regulatory environment here in Canada in order to assist our manufacturers and suppliers with any questions or concerns they may have.  Our regulatory compliance is a top priority and we are well known and respected by Health Canada.
