What is the Ventral Wall Defect Reduction Silo Bag indicated for?
It is indicated for staged repair of large ventral wall defects, including gastroschisis and omphalocele, when attempts at primary closure must be abandoned.

What sizes are available?
Ventral wall bags are available in several opening diameters: 3 cm, 4 cm, 5 cm, 6 cm tapered, 7.5 cm, 10 cm, and 15 cm.

What is the product made from?
The silo is made from silicone elastomer. The opening is reinforced with silicone elastomer tubing containing a stainless steel coil / spring, and a mesh-reinforced distal end with a preformed hole.

Is the product sterile and latex-free?
Yes. The product is supplied sterile, and is not made with natural rubber latex.

Can the product be resterilized or reused?
No. It is for single-patient use only. Do not re-process or re-sterilize, and do not use if the sterile package is open or compromised.

How should the device be checked before use?
Immediately prior to use, the bag should be tested for patency and integrity by filling it with sterile saline or sterile water and checking for leakage. Do not use if the bag leaks or appears damaged.

Dimensions / sizes
Opening diameters: 3 cm, 4 cm, 5 cm, 6 cm tapered, 7.5 cm, 10 cm, and 15 cm. The 10 cm and 15 cm sizes are designed to accommodate liver involvement as well as other viscera.
Care & handling instructions and storage conditions
Sterile, single-patient use only. Inspect packaging before opening. Test bag integrity with sterile saline or water before use. Do not use if leaking or damaged. Avoid punctures, cuts, crushing, or excessive stress. Do not reprocess or re-sterilize. Keep a standby device available at time of surgery. Product labeling indicates storage at approximately 7 C to 29 C.
Shelf Life
Implant duration note on labeling: must remain in the body less than 30 days.
